BARBERING FOR THE PEOPLE

  • Onsite Trauma Informed Barbering

Organizations can partner with The Pull Up Barber Project to provide professional onsite barbering services at no cost to the people they serve. Services are delivered in familiar, accessible spaces and guided by trauma informed practices that center consent, respect, and emotional safety.

Each visit is designed to create a calm, supportive one on one experience where clients are met at their own pace. Haircuts are offered as dignity based care that supports regulation, confidence, and access to essential grooming.

    Service includes:

    • Professional onsite barbering services

    • Free haircuts for clients, residents, students, or program participants

    • Trauma informed approach grounded in consent and respect

    • Client paced services that honor comfort, boundaries, and communication

    • Travel, full setup, sanitation, and cleanup

    Scheduling options:

    • One time community care or self care events

    • Monthly onsite visits

    • Biweekly onsite visits

    • Ongoing recurring visits based on program needs

    Payment structure:

Services are funded through paid contracts with the partnering organization. Organizations pay a flat hourly rate for onsite services, allowing haircuts to be offered at no cost to the people they serve. Rates are based on service length, frequency, and program needs.

A minimum three month commitment with biweekly visits is recommended to support consistency, rapport, and continuity of care.

  • Youth Barber Enrichment Program

    Youth Barbering & Skill Building

Teaching barbering to young people is about more than learning a trade. Barbering is a profession built on trust, closeness, communication, and care, and those elements matter deeply when working with youth.

This program introduces participants to foundational barbering skills through a trauma informed lens. It recognizes that not every young person enters a learning space feeling regulated, confident, or supported, and that experiences of touch, correction, or authority can impact how they show up. Instruction is designed to move at a thoughtful pace, prioritizing consent, clear communication, and emotional safety alongside technical skill building.

Participants learn how to cut hair while also learning how to read body language, manage frustration, accept feedback, and build trust with others. Barbering becomes a way to teach patience, accountability, and professionalism, while offering a real, tangible skill that can support confidence, independence, and future opportunity.

Through hands on practice and mentorship, youth develop both technical ability and emotional awareness. They leave with a stronger sense of self, pride in their work, and a deeper understanding of responsibility and care when working with others.

This program is well suited for youth ages 13 to 18 and can be implemented in schools, community organizations, and youth programs seeking meaningful engagement, skill development, and long term impact.
